Clarins Double Serum

I’ve been selected as a tester for Clarins Double Serum by TryandReview.com an online community of consumers who test products and share reviews to help fellow shoppers buy better especially cater to the Singapore market. It’s similar to Influenster for those who know such a program. It’s also my first time to be a tester on this platform.

Getting back to the acclaimed Serum from Clarins’s, it’s one of their best selling serum of all time but I’ve been quite skeptical as it’s an oil-based serum. Before getting in-depth about the result I would like to talk more about the sample given to us as the tester.

✵✵ Product ✵✵

It’s in a sachet form and we were given a supply of 7 days (7 sachets X 0.9ml = 6.3ml). My first impression was it’s not informative as no clear direction of usage as it didn’t explain this is a first care/pre-serum or a serum use after toning in their tester package. So I had to go to their website and the only instruction is given is “Apply before your Clarins day or night cream for optimal anti-aging performance.” So I guess it’s first care similar to Guerlain Abeille Royale Youth Watery Oil or comparable to the first care that I’ve been using which is Decorte’s Moisture Liposome and THOW’s Bichup Self-Generating Anti-Aging Essence.

In terms of the texture, it’s extremely oily for me, especially for guys to use oils based serum. It doesn’t absorb immediately and you felt uncomfortable. I need to massage for more than 5 minutes to make sure there’s no more oily residue. So my first night using it I’m shocked and afraid it might clog my pores and trigger acne as I’m cleared of acne for quite a long time already.

The scent for me is quite heavy on spices or herbal scent but it doesn’t linger long on your skin.

✵✵ Notable Ingredients ✵✵

The main ingredient is Golden Tumeric, It has 65% Turmerone which is known to help calm skin and reducing environmental damage that causes aging. So basically it’s an anti-aging serum. Clarins claimed that there will be the instant radiance, reduced in pores and fine lines as well as visibly younger skins.

✵✵ Result ✵✵

To my surprised, it doesn’t trigger blemishes or clogs my pores but I dislike the texture as seems like it’s only suitable to those with dry skin although it mentioned suits all skin types. And I woke up with some oiliness on my skin too. Those who know my favorite oil-based serum from Decorte’s Ultimate Miracle Facial Oil don’t have such an after effect where the oil melts into the skin.

Although I dislike the texture however I’m quite amazed at the effect on day 5 of using the products I’ve seen my skin is brightened and there’s a healthy radiant and glow. But I don’t see the effect of reducing my pores as I believe this should take a longer time.

✵✵ Overall Rating ✵✵

Rating: 5 out of 5.

All in all, I won’t purchase this and I don’t think this product suits guy with oily combination skin living in tropical country like me as I dislike the oily texture and the after effect on my skin it’s uncomfortable. However, thank god that it doesn’t clog my pores and causes acne. And there is visible result within the first week of using it so it’s a good serum just that it’s not the type of serum that I like. This is based on my experience using the like of anti-aging serum from Lancôme Advanced Génifique and THOW Bichup First Care Moisture Anti-Aging.
