This is a follow up from the previous post on the Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask. Both items have been my staple duo combo for my weekly intensive special care. I’ve mentioned previously that my skin texture has become more refined and smoother. You felt this immediately after the clarifying mask but pairing up with the Overnight Vitalizing Mask, this has brought it up to another level.
✵✵ Product ✵✵
It’s an overnight sleeping mask similar to the renowned Laneige Water Sleeping Mask which both brands belong to the same company. Similar to the Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask, it comes in a bronze squeeze tube. Nothing fancy just sleek and minimalist. Which I think is more hygienic and convenient to use where you just squeeze rather than the usual scooping in a jar.
The texture is cream-based and in off-white color. Before applying, upon squeezing, you may feel that’s it’s quite heavy but upon layering and after sitting it on the skin for quite some time, it gets absorb and leaving skin with a smooth texture and you can feel there’s a moisture barrier on top of your skin and felt hydrated to the max. However, you won’t feel this immediately only after 1 to 2 hours if I’m still awake or you can rest assured after your beauty sleep you will wake up with the suppleness of hydration.
The scent is the usual herbal medicinal but not overpowering and I found it quite soothing and relaxing as well after applying.
The application is used in the last step of your regime. Although it’s recommended to use 2-3 times per week, I’ve used it as my daily sleeping mask. I’ve paired it up with the clarifying mask for 2-3 times a week in the following manner:-
Initial Skincare Regime > Moisturizer > Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask > *Night Cream > Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask
I’ve sometimes used a night cream as well if I need extremely nourish care, if you also using night cream just make sure this is the sequence suggested by Sulwhasoo.
It’s also suggested to just wash face using lukewarm water the next day, I’ve tried this and you’ll feel the skin is still supple and nourish after washing. However most of the time, I will wash using facial cleanser as I tend to have the habit to wash and clean my face in the morning, which I feel more awoke and energetic.
✵✵ Notable Ingredients ✵✵
I won’t be going through the ingredients list in depth this time and only highlighted those that are crucial, others you may refer to this list of ingredients and it shares fare amount of common ingredients in some of the Kbeauty product that I may have covered in The History of Whoo or other Sulwhasoo products.
Scutellaria Root AKA Chinese Skullcap has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-oxidant, and anti-ultraviolet radiation functions.
Angelica Acutiloba is a good skin conditioning and anti-inflammatory as well.
All those ingredients are to make sure extra nourishment and to reinvigorate your skin with rich moisture during your beauty sleep.
Another highlighted technology in this sleeping mask is their Organic Respiration Layer (ORL) technology that is the unique texture of the cream, able to make sure your skin is breathable despite the thick creaminess which feels soft and not heavy on skin. Thus even those who are having oily skin may reap the benefits as well.
✵✵ Result ✵✵
Pairing up the Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask with this Overnight Vitalizing Mask has amped up the effect and you can see the difference. Skin brightens up and there’s natural radiance with refined and soft skin texture.
After waking up the next morning, skin is supple and there’s no trace of oiliness at all, thus having a similar effect when I use Decorté as my skincare regime. However, there are times that when I woke up with some oiliness, but 95% of it is just supple and hydrated skin. I think this is maybe due to I’m on the oily combination skin type but I didn’t find it heavy or cause more sebum as compared to using a night cream. And I’ve since replaced this from Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and has been my go-to sleeping mask.
I know that Sulwhasoo also recently just relaunched a reformulated overnight mask, along with clarifying mask and introduced another 2 new mask series into their special care range. But since I’ve hoarded 4 tubes of the sleeping mask, I won’t have the chance to try the newly improved version. I can’t wait to finish up the hoarded masks which I think would last me for 1 year of supply LMAO.
✵✵ Overall Rating ✵✵
Overall, I would highly recommend this sleeping mask as it also falls in the mid-tier price range. I would rather spend extra buck than save on sleeping mask that doesn’t deliver despite the cheaper price. This is because it’s able to create a soft texture that soothes the skin leaving my skin hydrated, supple, brighten, and glow. I just make sure that I only purchase this during sales or purchase their travel exclusive set which is more value for money. I definitely won’t purchase this on their own as ala-carte.

This is a follow-up post from the previous review on Dr.Jart+ CRYO RUBBER™, I will be reviewing another version which is with Firming Collagen. For those that are unfamiliar with such mask, it’s using cryotherapy technology, thus the name derivation of the mask name. And cryotherapy technology is a treatment that lowers the skin’s temperature …
Feeling intrigued by the packaging, rubber mask, and freebies from Sephora Singapore, I’ve decided to give this a try. There are a lot of mixed reviews on this mask as this mask doesn’t’ come at a cheaper price tag. With only an ampoule and 1 rubber mask this cost S$21 each which other conventional sheet …
